I put 19 eggs in the incubator, I cracked two when I accidentally dropped the lid on them. I cracked those all the way open and didn't see anything developing (this was about day 5) so I assumed they were duds and wasn't too worried. Candling at day 8, I saw an eye and blood vessels in one egg ... but the rest all had a floating round blob .. the yolk?

Dang rooster has 2 jobs to do ... one to crow (which he doesn't do until 9 am) and the other to mate. Dang freeloader!

Is there a way to make him more amorous?

How old are all of your birds? If they are young, they might just not be fertile yet.

Have you seen him mating the girls???
If so, he may be shooting blanks, if not, well he may not be sweet talking the girls enough.

I also forgot to add My roo/hen was 1/11 and three of those chickens he refused to touch or even go by or he would have an eye out

6 hens 1 rooster

We have seen him mating a few times.

I culled the infertiles today--boy did they stink! I'm glad that I got them out of there.

The fertile one, you can see the heart beat and the embryo squirming (day 9). I had to put a few eggs gathered today in the 'bator as the turner won't work with just one egg. We'll see.

I've seen fertlized eggs in our eggs for baking and cooking over the winter, so I know he can do it.

Do I need a candles, incense, wine and Barry White music? Can we show him p*rn the way they do for pandas?
