Made a tool for cleaning the run

Wanted a tool for scooping up waste in the run without wasting the construction sand from the main section or the dirt under the coop they use as a dust bath. Had some nets laying around but even 1/4" sized netting still pulled out too much of the pebbles in the construction sand and a lot of dirt. I took apart a fishing net to reuse the hoop and made this with a broom handle, 1/2" hardware fabric, and some fencing wire. Works perfect. Thought maybe someone else that has this stuff laying around could use the idea.

I dub thee "fishnet hooper pooper scooper".

I have sand in my runs, my husband designed a scooper for me several years ago. We got a duster from the hardware store (the one that comes with a broom and has a wooden stick so you can scoop standing up) cut the bottom off and stapled hardware cloth (used 1/2 an inch).
I actually use the broom to sweep the poop into the scooper, then it goes to the bucket.
I am very proud of this design since my husband is a retired NASA engineer that worked on the Apollo Missions and designed a similar scooper to collect rocks from the moon.

Hey, I'm new to all this and just wanted to let you know I appreciate your post. I was trying to figure out how to sift the poop out of the run. And considering you and the NASA both utilized 1/2" hardware cloth, I think that says a lot!
