Hi, so no one knows where my chicks are. Shipped mid-tuesday.

When (if?) they arrive tomorrow, what do I do besides dip their beaks in sugar water? I also have electrolytes.

And does the breeder assume any losses?

Thanks.

Where did you order your chicks from? I had ordered my last year from Ideal hatchery. Most hatcheries have a guarentee for live delivery of chicks plus the guarentee they won't die off right away. From Ideal I had 4 days after the delivery of my chicks. Any that died en route or within that 4 day deadline I could either be reimbersed or have a new shipment of chicks to replace the ones I lost for free.

The only thing other than sugar water I can suggest is the yolk of a boiled egg ground down. It will help give them a boost. Best of luck to you!!

Thanks Amy, I actually have a hard boiled yolk on hand.

The birds are from Chickenscratchpoultry. Silly me, I don't know the terms. I'll check their site.
