Ok so I have made-up my mind on the duck breed I want which are still available, and I am in the process of building the coop. But, what about the temps in Dallas/Fort Worth area? Are they too high for live birds to be shipped? We are already rising into the 90-100 degree temps in the day, and dipping back down to the 80's at night.

Send Metzer Farms an email and ask them what they think.

I just received some more ducklings from Metzger Farms. I'm in the Houston area and our Temps are in the 90's. So you should be fine. Just get to the post office as soon as they call you to pick them up. My post office is always freezing!

Thanks for your reply.” I think I will order then. Which breeds did you get, if you don’t mind me asking?

I ordered the Khaki-Campbell's. After all my research, I found they were the best egg laying breed. They are quite skiddish though and don't like to be handled much. What breed are you thinking?

I’m leaning toward the runner ducks. I really want the bluish-green eggs that the chocolate and black runners make, and they are supposed to be good foragers also. But yeah, the runners are supposed to be skittish too. So these will just be working and observing ducks, certainly not cuddle ducks. I’m planning on getting four(one chocolate f, one black f, one fawn and white f, and one of the above mentioned male) I hope an 8x14ft run is enough for that many for most of the day. I can give them free range for a couple of hours each day though, but only a couple.

The ducklings have been ordered today for the 6-28-2018 hatchlings. I decided on the 3 chocolate runner females and one black runner male.
I’m super excited!

You'll love the Runners I have 5 and love them to pieces they really are the comics of the barn yard. Make sure to tell your postman when they are coming and also contact your post office and have them call you as soon as they get to them. Are they putting gro gel in their box that will help keep them hydrated in route.

Oh yeah, I kept flip-flopping on the breed I wanted. At first it was the magpie, but after watching videos of runners I was sold. And yes, they are putting gro-gell in with them for their shipment with an extra packet of vitamins. I don't know what the packet of vitamins is, or if it is being added to the gro-gell itself or separate, but I figured vitamins couldn't hurt for their travel. Plus it was only an additional 4 dollars. Thank you for your advice. I will do as you instructed.
