This really is not important. Just for conversations sake LOL. But surely I am not the only one who has rethunk their coop repeatedly...and torn parts out and then had ANOTHER idea and torn another part out. I am starting to get frustrated with myself. The girls are in it now. But I am still finishing it. Don't get me wrong... I am enjoying the process but geez how many ideas can I have before I get this thing "to my liking"? I am not even being picky! Just think of something neat or another thing to make life easier for them or me or see a cool design element somewhere and there I go again! I am curious...how long did you take to get your coop "finished"? Not including future additions to your first finished product? I feel like I will never complete this first one:barnie

I’m starting to build my rooster coop today... I’ll get back to you! Lol

That is interesting! I wondered about a separate "coop" for mine...being that my leghorn is a cockerel. So I don't have to get rid of him since SO FAR he is my 2nd favorite of the whole flock!

STOP MAKING ME CONSIDER MORE OPTIONS!:bow:lau

I have different type shed/coops and I only have 2 so far that I'm 100% happy with and they are the most simple ideas ever
They r just a row of nests (4) made from ply wood with hay in them
And a 2 different size porches in it 1 at 4 feet for my young birds and one at 6 feet for my older/ more dominant birds
With a blue and red feeder in the centre which I leave full of meal and a black dish for water which I have a pipe running to it so its never empty and I dont spill water in the straw bedding
My other houses on the other hand 5 years later and we be still changing thing in it lol

I spent about 6 months planning/designing my coop,
but I'm a retired equipment designer/drafter and it was winter,
while voraciously reading chickens forums/blogs/websites.

It took me about 4-5 months to build the coop and run,
but that included rearranging the large shed the coop would be in,
and 2 other sheds and garage to fit stuff from coop shed.
All while overcoming a long convalescence, so was physically slow at first.

Haven't made too many changes, none major, since it was built.
