Hi all,

One of my hens appears to have hurt her foot trying to fly over the fence. She folds her toes under and is walking on the top of the foot. I taped her toes, and she is trying to walk on the bottoms, but still mostly folds them under. She's been isolated in a small coop for about 4 days and doesn't seem to be getting much better.

I'd like to make her a shoe. When I look at all the photos of the baby chick shoes, I just see the front 3 toes dealt with - what do I do with the fourth toe in the back? How do I exclude it?

She is eating and drinking fine. She wants OUT of the small coop. She goes up the ladder to put herself to bed. She is laying an egg every day.

Is this something that will fix itself, or should I try to make some type of shoe?

ANY help would be appreciated!!

Kathy

I'm sorry about your hen.

What are the symptoms of the disease/injury?:

Is her foot hot to the touch, swelling, scratched, or is she limping?
Could it be some form of partial paralysis?
Is she showing any other symptoms of injury or disease?

I would try giving her plenty of vitamins to try and help her heal. Get her in a boot (if you can keep it on her, she probably won't like it

) and keep an eye on her.

I hope she heals up soon. Best of luck!
