Making balut

Hello new member here
I am looking for information how to make balut. I have the little giant incubator Sysco foam. I was wondering if anybody have tried it before and if they had successful balut. I grew up eating them and unfortunately no store around me sells them.

Thank you for commenting, I’ve tried but nothing have given me a clear answer if it was possible to do it in a incubator that I have. All that I’ve found are gigantic incubator where they can make balut 3000 at a time

Hey hey! Do you have a source for duck eggs?
Making balut would be easy If you have an incubator with calibrated instruments and a source for hatching eggs.

I have bought balut eggs from my local Vietnamese grocery store and instead of eating them I actually put them in my incubator and hatched them.

Yes you can do it in any incubator as long as you have a calibrated thermometer or three and a salt tested humidity gauge.

Yes, I have the white ducks and I get 5 eggs everyday and I also get 8 chicken eggs. This maybe a dumb question but what do you mean a calibrated instrument?

I can tell you what it means if you would like?

What this means is no matter which incubator you have you cannot trust the temperature that it reads.
You must buy a separate thermometer and calibrate it so you know that it's reading correctly and you go by the reading of your calibrated thermometer not the reading on your incubator.


It's important because if your incubator gets too hot even for just a little while you will kill what's growing inside of the egg.

Ohhhh gotcha. Thank you so much. I have hatched my own chicken and currently on my first round of duck egg and I’ve just been going off of what the incubator says. I had no idea again thank for you input you’ve help me a lot!
