I'm hoping to start mixing my own feed. The reasons are numerous. The two ingredients I'm finding most challenging are a mineral mix and fish meal. Do any of you experienced "diy feed makers" have wisdom to share?

Try a company called Fertrell. They have all kinds of stuff, I think they have a mineral mix/fish meal combo in 50 or 60 pound bags. I don't remember if they can sell to individuals or not, but I am sure you can find a retailer.

The vitamin/ mineral mixes usually do come in 50 lb. bags, enough for 1000 lbs of feed (or more?) and don't store well. Neither does feed. If you are feeding very large #s of birds, and can handle large volumes of feed, it will still be expensive to manage, compared to already made stuff. For a small flock, much harder! Mary
