I have a mallard duck I got a little over a year ago at chick days in their Rouen duckling bin, I always thought she was a mallard instead because she only had one eye stripe and she never grew as big as they say the Rouen's get and she can fly VERY well. She just started laying again from a stopped period of laying over this harsh winter. today I noticed her being more quiet then usual and more to herself. I filled up there swimming pool she is always the first to run and jump in and today she seemed to only be interested in walking around the leaf piles by herself. I noticed she had wet mucus looking stuff on her feathers around her vent. but I thought that might be because she has been getting mated allot by our male. could she be going broody? or could this be a sign of illness. I was just a little worried about her today because she is my most hyper little duck always running in and out of the pool splashing everywhere and playing around the yard digging in mud with the others.

How would I be able to tell if she is egg bound and how would I fix that?? ive never once had any of my ducks or chickens get egg bound so I have no idea what to do.

Catch her and feel around the cloaca for hardness. If there is hardness, bring somewhere for a soak on lukewarm water to see if she passes the egg. You can also try to gently lubricate with mineral oil. It may also be a soft-shell egg that broke while she was trying to to lay.
