i have never heard of a male turkey being called a jake. I know a male duck is a Drake. But turkey's are called Toms, or hens

Actually, immature male turkeys are called jakes (who then mature into Toms a.k.a. Gobblers) immature females are called jennies (who then mature into hens), and chicks are called poults.

This is similar to the chicken world where pullets mature to hens, cockerels mature into roosters.
