Male Call

Looking for some opinions on male peafowl calls, all relating to mating season.

Do you notice more or less calling at the beginning of the season, middle of season, end of season, or the same all season long?

Do you notice more or less calling at the beginning of the day, middle of the day, end of the day, or the same all day long?

How about amount of mates? Does it seem they call more when they have no mates available to them? When they have more, or doesn't seem to matter?

Do the calls change much during the season?

Sorry it seems more like a poll than a question. Just trying to learn a bit more about the whole mating call.

I can't answer all of these since I keep my peafowl at my Grandma's but it seems like most of the calling I hear when I am at the pen is done in the middle of the breeding season.
In the middle of the season it is easier to get the peacocks calling. You can call out the noise they make and it will get them started. In the begining of the breeding season I can't get them started by calling.
As for calls changing what comes to my mind is the male's voice gets raspy and cracks sometimes when he calls twords the end of the breeding season. It doesn't sound as good as it did durring the start of the season.

2. the same all day long including sometimes at night
3. With mine it doesn't seem to matter, some have 2-3 hens and one has one hen they still call and scream.
4. Just before breeding season til the end of it mine call. Off season they just scream when a hawk is around.
These answers are based on my birds, others might have different answers. Hope it helps

These are both very helpful.

Mine right now are making a call that sounds like a "meow" or "eow". Obviously a bit louder than a cat...

Just started heavy this week. Surprised me. Once in a while in the weeks past, but this week starting Sunday and everyday since has been "meow", "meow", "meow"... especially in the morning. Other than that it's random through the day and occasionally during the night.

Looking at them standing there calling it's like they need something I'm not providing them. Sometimes I feel bad. It's just the two males that are of age. The other male and female are only yearlings.

Neighbors have all been cool with them for the last two years, now will be the true test. You can only explain so well how they sound without them actually making the trip to a farm and hearing them in person.

the other day my alarm went off at 5:00 AM and the peacocks started honking to it so they will call in the morning if they have something to call to.

They seemed quiet this morning... maybe it was a phase?

I know the rain yesterday didn't slow them down... They're so funny some times about getting wet, other times it seems like they don't care.
