Hello!

My male Guinea, Earl, has been laying down a lot lately, and it seems like he has a problem with his legs. He'll be 3 years on March 11. I looked at his leg, and it seems that his left leg has a hard, scaly callous just below and halfway on his joint, and also one that is on his back toe. The skin on both of the bottoms of his feet has become into a stretched callous, and I do believe that happened because he is heavy and the pressure on his feet caused that, but it's been there for a while and there's never been a problem... it seems like it might be something inside his legs. Do y'all have any idea about what it is, and what I can do to treat or help him? I'm a little bit worried, thanks for any advice and input!!!

What are you feeding it?

You can try soaking the feet in an Epsom salts bath.

I had been feeding him Purena Layena 16% along with my two other Guineas. Though I did some research and read that they should be getting more protein, I bought some Flock Raiser with 20% protein, will this do for them?

Okay, thank you for the advice! I was able to get a better look at his leg, and he has been having a harder time walking but regressed, and it looks like his knee was dislocated or something similar at some point because that leg which he seems to be having a hard time walking on feels different from the other one on the knee. Do you know if there is anything I can do for that? I think it's already healing because it doesn't feel loose.

Flock raiser will be fine for them. Be sure to provide oyster shell free choice for the hens.

Guineas have fragile legs. One problem that can happen is for the tendon to slip out of the groove on the back of the hock. If it is not corrected right after it happens, thete likely is nothing to do for it. Poor nutrition while a keet can be a contributing factor.
