I'd say hen. No spurs, small + plain tail.

Edit: also by 8 months if you havn't heard any crowing then it's definately a hen.

The reason I had asked was because I hear some weird sounds coming from the coop sometimes, sounds that aren't much like the clucking I might expect. It's sort of a long croak sound. I have three others, but they all seem clearly to be female.
