hi i have a male peacock that has lost alot of weight hes not eating or drinking is very weak and is opening and closing his mouth constantly ...got baytril from local vet and been giving it orally mixed 1ml to 100ml water orally by syringe ....he is taking it 2 days now ...ive tried feeding him mashed boiled egg and he has eaten a littlle but hes very weak ...is there anything else i can do to help him ??? desperate now and no vets in my area specialse in birds ....i live in cyprus and the temperature is very hot ...he is in a shed alone in the cool ....seems to be no improvement ...wormed him also and seems to have diahorea ....

Can you get some metronidazole (flagyl) from your vet?

yes i can try to get some tomorrow ...how shall i give it to him ...he is 1 year old but very thin now and weak with no eating and drinking ...

Give him one 200mg or 250mg tablet orally once or twice a day for five days. Also ask your vet for a womer like fenbendazole or albendazole, not ivermectin. Not sure what wormers you have in Greece, so ask him for something that will treat cecal worms and capillary worms. Here in the States it's called Safeguard (fenbendazole) and Valbazen (albendazole). Ivermectin will not treat those worms.
