I have a male silver pheasant that wandered in my yard now I am looking for a companion for it .
Would golden pheasants be good
Could the two species crossbreed ?
Would a male be better as a mate then female ?

Yes, Goldens will breed with Silvers. I don't recommend cross breeding the species.
If you can't find a female Silver or two, than another male will be ok, as long as there are no females in the same pen or anywhere near the cockbirds so that they can see or hear them.

I would rather get a silver female but I cannot find one for sale anywhere around me . I wonder why you do not recommend they breed ? I was not looking to breed but I was hoping that I could grab the eggs as soon as they are layed and eat them for breakfast . The only reason I have one silver pheasant male is that it walked into my yard so I built it an aviary now I don’t want it alone and I figured breakfast would be a bonus

Shouldn't breed because that's a cross. Keep them pure. Too many people are crossing everything they can find. It destroys the genetics of the pure birds.
If just want the eggs to eat, you don't have to breed them, the hens will lay without a cockbird present.

I see . I am just looking for a companion for my silver male . I would like to get a female for her eggs , a silver would be perfect but only Golden’s are available near me . I will eat the eggs before it gets a chance to make babies
