Hello. I have 9 mallards 4 male 5 female. I also have 5 muscovys. I've had them for about 6 months. Since they were a couple weeks old. I have a pond on 5 acers I let they free range on all day long until sunset then it's dinner and bed time I put them in their house. A 20 x30 foot screened in gazebo. Then in morning they get let out and feed. I have never had any problems putting then to bed until 4 days ago. My muscovy ducks will go in and eat but my mallards will not come for anything. They don't care about the food and don't want put up. Once it gets dark the ducks will not come out of pound for anything. I hate not locking them up at night. I live southern Missouri, and we have bobcats, all kinds of snakes, owls, hawks and coyotes. I was thinking about making them a house that I can put in/on top of pond. But winter does get bad here.
Any suggestions on how to get my ducks in their house? And
What's do u think about a duck house in the water?

Well howdy neighbor :frow
I really have no idea how you would herd them in off the pond :idunno
Have you tried peas? Mine can't resist peas. I don't see anything wrong with a house on the water however if they aren't going in for you now, chances are they won't go in that either. All of mine had to be trained to go in and sometimes still give me trouble. :he
