My Mallard Hen has been on her nest of eggs for 33 days as of today and I'm getting excited about seeing the babies. Does anyone have any Mallard/Muscovy mix photos to share?

Michelle (who's also waiting on Willow the Muscovy Hen's nest to start hatching out any day)

I haven't candled the eggs. My Mallard Hen is the only one of my ducks that will not allow me near her eggs...my scovies all let me handle the eggs but Molly the Mallard is a ferocious Mamma LOL She removed 2 eggs a couple of days ago that were rotten. I always thought that the eggs would hatch in 28 days since Mamma is a Mallard but she's still on them. She quit coming out to swim/preen 2 days ago.

There must be something going on under there then.

That's what I'm thinking Miss Lydia :) I've been listening and can't hear any peeping, she won't budge off of her nest. She made this nest in the tall grass at the corner of our house/garage so once I was sure she was staying on it I placed a cage over her and every day would open the door so she could come and go. She would come out and have a swim then head right back to the nest, The last two days she has not left the nest, not eaten any of her food and not touched her water and when you touch the cage she stretches her pretty little neck out and hisses so hard she sounds like she's growling LOL
