Hi I’m Cat and I started raising chickens and ducks last year. I currently have 3 chickens and 3 ducks with 11 new chicks arriving in a few weeks!! My current chickens are barred rock, rhode island red, and, the 3rd one is either a Plymouth Blue Rock, a Blue Andalusian, or a Lavender Orpington. I had all 3 of the “blues” but lost 2 of them. I’m not sure which one this girl is. I have a young black duck and 2 ducklings (1yellow, 1 “dirty” yellowy blackish mix). I have all kinds of pets since I live in the country. I love animals! I ran across backyard chickens last year while taking a crash course in chicken mama and again in duck goose mama. The oldest chicken and duck think they are kittens I think as I raised a kitten at the same time as them. I sat with the chick n duck as babies (the other 2 chicks and duckling didn’t survive the first week) and let them run around while bottle feeding the kitten. When I gave the kitten water and food as she got older the chick n duckling would always be right there trying to help her eat her food I’m like no no no no no! I couldn’t hold one without holding them all! With 11 more chicks coming I need to upgrade my chicken house soon!
