my mama duck has been laying one egg a day for 14 days. She pushed 2 out of the nest and now she just started to sit on them. Any advice?? This is my first clutch

My leusistic mallard also just started laying. This is her 2nd batch, she hatched 5 out of 13 on mothers day this year. It was an amazing month watching her. The babies are adorable. So cute when you can hear them chirping from inside the egg. Keep giving her new hay. And its ok to ler her out, so she can relieve herself. She'll come back. I always left her food and water in her reach so that she wouldnt have to get up.

They will roll out eggs that are duds. I have learned through experience to trust their instincts. They usually know what they are doing!

We have a momma sitting on a nest in a duck box. She rolled one egg out of the nest all the way to the far end of the box by the door. It popped the next day. She knew it was bad and didn't want to stink up the nest.

Now she is spending more time off the nest and has gotten a lot more protective of anything coming close to her ramp. She huffs and puffs when when I come to feed her. I think they will hatch ANY DAY.

Be patient? lol Is she secure? making sure that mama is in a safe place in which to brood, has plenty of bedding, roll out eggs could be duds most ducks instincts know, when the eggs are not worthwhile.

Try and mark in a calendar when she sat so you can ballpark when they should hatch, do you have a plan for after? her & the babies will continue to need a safe place away from the rest of the flock and secure, remember little ones can sneak through the darnest places!

Yes she is secure. Her nest is close enough and hidden enough. Some people told me not to put her food/water close while others did. AHH!! what do I do?? I have to constantly resist the urge to go and peek at them. If I do that she hiss's at me. Her sister is the same age as her and with the drake at the same times as her ( 24/7 ). Her sister has not layed any eggs and not showing any signs of nest making.
