A goose at work has been sitting on her next for over 80 days now. She started with 2 nests a few feet apart from each other with roughly 3 eggs in each, but eventually gave up on one nest. We noticed her around 3/19/24 and as of today (6/13/24) she is still sitting on this nest, no eggs have hatched. Some people want to shew her away, others want to leave her. She is still protective of the nest if people get close enough but she does leave a couple times a day to go eat. Should we leave her, will she leave on her own, how long will she stay here? Would love some advise!

At this point for the sake of her health, I would go to A local farm store that is selling baby ducks and pick out 3 or 4 of the youngest smallest ones they have in the bin.
After complete darkness there should be a way to put them under her. If not and you think she will just shoo off the nest for the night, maybe place them in the nest during the day, and she will quickly return after you leave.
The longer she sits the more depleted her health will get.
Make her the happiest mama duck possible!
PS. Sorry ment to say geese not duck. . Since I was thinking domestic goose and now I see it's a wild goose, please call the DNR. They may or may not do anything about it

I'm not sure our local farm store sells baby geese, will she 'accept' baby ducks?
When you say 'there should be a way to put them under her', what exactly did you have in mind...

Update, our local store says they do have baby geese that they just got today that they estimate to be 2 weeks old. Will she 'fall for it' and accept them? I'm worried if we try to trick her that she'll know they aren't hers, and not care for them.

Those will be domestic geese and will not fly and migrate like wild Canadians. Would not be a good idea to add domestic geese to the wild. Besides being illegal to mess with the wild waterfowl. If you want to help, contact local wildlife service and let them know that's all you are legally able to do. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/migratory-bird-treaty-act.1369922/

Do not add any babies, they will give her disease and are not the right type. Leave her alone, please.
