Mama pecking hatching egg????

Is it normal for a mama to peck her hatching eggs? I can hear the cheeping. I have read two things one it is normal for the mama to try to help; two the mama may be trying to kill and eat the baby. This is my and her first time with babies.

I've personally have never seen any of my hens doing this, but I don't bother my broodies either. If they are hatching I would keep an I on it , since you seen her doing this. Good luck broodies are fun. I have 2 on eggs, one I set, the other I found on 15 eggs. Those Marans are sneaky, and hide.
