I started last year with a 7 egg Brinsea, when I only had 1 pair of call ducks. My herd grew a little to 2 pairs and a trio of call ducks, over the winter.
I have a hen mallard that was laying heavily, but no mate, so I stuck call duck eggs under her over the course of a week or so.
Three ducklings are hatched out at the moment, and I suppose a few more may hatch in the next week. Should I pull the hatched ducklings from her now, and bring them into the garage with my incubator duckling? I haven't seen the ducklings out to feed or anything, so am wondering if she's holding too tight to the nest. It's been years since I was on the farm and watched nest hatched ducklings. They are perky little cuties though, as I lifted the hen up to take a peek. Should I wait another week, and then pull everything that's hatched? I'd like to get the mallard back to being available to sit on new eggs, and am not sure how to approach it.
