My 10-11 week old rooster and the rest of his girls are the same age. well at night he gets a little aggressive and when one of my girls's come out of the pen and I open the door for her to go back in my rooster will jump form the roost and come out cause he likes to always come out of the coop but then hell grab her neck feathers and she doesn't like it. So I yell at him and he starts jumping side to side at me but he back down cause I yell and point my finger at him. But this only happens at night and tonight he did it the youngest, my little silkie, and I definitely yelled at him. Then she perched on my arm and he couldn't reach her. But is this just because there not on the roost? Should I be concerned about this behavior? He also does the same thing when I try to pick up one of the girls. I guess he doesn't like it. Any ideas?

He is starting to exhibit mating behavior, but the pullets are not ready for his attentions. He doesn't like you picking up 'his' girls because genetically he is programmed to protect them. Do not allow him to get away with human aggressive behavior as it can progress to flogging. Do not allow any children to be near him.

I am a child lol only 14 but I've always wanted chickens and we accidentally got him and I was too attached by the time we knew. I usually yell at him and he walks away but still looks at me. He lets me pick him up but if he is mad I usually have to move my hands a lot before I pick him up so he doesn't try to bite me. He has never bit me or nipped yet so we're doing good. When I cradle him he makes noises but he doesn't like it when I cradle or pick him up in front of his girls. He almost went after my cousin also my age cause she was too close to me so is that good?

Realistically I was referring to younger children who can not protect themselves, but be aware that he can do real damage to your eyes if he flies at your face. Human aggression in any fashion towards anyone is not good.

yes, I know but at night since he gets aggressive I try to not be that close to him when I stick my head in the coop to help out my silkie get up on the roosts. Plus I have to make sure he doesn't watch my put my silkie on the roost because I'm getting too close to his girls so I'm very aware. The only problem with roosting is because he loves to come outside so when its bedtime and he is all roosted he jumped down and loses his spot to come out then he complains cause the girls took his spot but won't let me help him. I going to make the rooster bigger well longer for them all to find with enough room cause some of my girls love to take up the whole thing.
