Mandarin duck nest

Do I need to put straw or anything in the hollow log I'm using as a nest box for the ducks to lay in?

I just put wood chips in mine. It is a personal preference. Sometimes, adding a bedding can help protect the eggs.

I put pine wood chips in mine also just because that's what I've read many people do.
