Mandarin Ducks

Does anyone here own Mandarin Ducks? My friend is wanting to buy some ducks for pets, and is wondering what the requirements are for these beautiful birds?


also, how much do they cost?

are they friendly??

are there any breeders in canada?

I have 2 pairs of Mandarins. They are beautiful birds and a lot of fun to watch. Requirements are few..........If you want them to breed, you need a pen no smaller than 6'x12'.......put 2 wood duck type nest boxes in with them because they will pick their nest site.....give them a few shrubs for shade(or a rooof).........and if you want to enjoy watching them, give them a small pond of some sort. NOTE: they are a very wild type duck so, make sure the pen has a top and on 3 sides cover the bottom of the pen with something solid that they cannot see thru. (tin, outdoor plywood or something of that nature) Your friend will not regret having them. Jeff
