Although mandarins are not quite as skitish as woodies, they are still pretty wild. Your chances are a lot better if you get them as ducklings and really work with them, daily. All my breeders are from different stock around the country and i bought them as adults and i can still go into the pen and feed them mealworms and they will come as close as 5', but thats it.
As far as letting them free range with your ducks, i wouldnt recommend trying it, if you pinion them then maybe, but they will become predator food, if they are full winged, good bye ducks.
