Hi I'm new. I have a lot of chickens. I moved in a new house and there was a Rooster, Hen and eight babies. Now I don't even know how many. They lay eggs in places I cant get to and continue to have more chicks. Is there an easy way that I can contain them in a specific are that might not be difficult. Thanks

We're glad you joined us!

There are many ways to contain chickens. You could build a simple fence out of snowfence, hard-ware cloth, wooden boards, or possibly chicken wire (only use chicken wire in a predator-secure place, since it is very weak). A 4 foot high fence usually proves effective in containing chickens, unless they are gamebirds or bantam breeds that fly well.

The best option would be to build a secure coop and covered run for your chickens. That will protect them from predators and weather, and it will contain them. For information on coops and runs, I would check out the Coops section of the forums: Coop Designs.
