maran dark egh laying gene..anyone have proof what a cross will lay that has maran dad & RIR MOMs

Just curious if the dark egg gene is frequently genes oftem passed down or 50/50 any one have PROOF OF cross with maran side is the dad? because i have a juvenile pullet cross the maran is def the daddy LOL This probably makes no sense hopefully someone can break down DEL GENES FOR ME ON HERE LOL

I don't know about the genes, but I had a hen for awhile that was Marans x Wyandotte. She laid a slightly darker than normal egg with lots of big dark speckles.

dark egg gene comes more importantly thru the sire. Best is sire has dark egg laying dam. Then breed such a sire to a dark egg laying female whose sire also has a dark egg laying dam.
The trick with creating darker eggs in a laying program is to use sires from dark egg laying dams and females whose sires were from dark egg laying dams. Always doubling up on sires from dark egg laying dams.
If you breed a dark egg laying bird to a lighter egg laying dam, the eggs will be lighter than the parent couple created.
