Marana Rooster???

OK Don't think I am crazy.

But someone on CL is advertising a Marana Rooster and saying it is a rare bird.

Ummm I have not heard of it before and can't find any info on it. So I think they are trying to fool somebody with a Maran?

My guess is since a and s are right next to each other on the keyboard, its a typo and should be Marans.

Be careful, this rooster may belong to someone that knows nothing about chickens..... He may have a Barred Rock and THINKS it is a Maran.

I know someone that had a flock of "marans" and was very disappointed in their egg color when they started laying. I drove over and took a look.... They had barred rock hens, NOT Marans........ But, they paid Maran prices for the Barred Rock hens.

Along the lines of enola said, I had an unplanned breeding between a Buff Orp and a Black Orp. Resulting in a very Black Coppery looking Marans like bird. He is a gorgeous mutt. NOT a Black Copper Marans. But, he looks like one enough to fool the unknowing.
