Hello all,
I'm new here and hope that the experts in this breed can tell me if the Marans I purchased are actually a cross. They all have black shading down their legs expending to the toes. The Marans I've had in the past had white legs and what I've read about it seems to be that they should be white.

Sorry, I don't have pictures.

Thanks in advance.
Jan

Most of my marans do have grey on their legs expanding down to their toes with pink

From what i read on the marans french site is that they perfer "white" legs on BC marans, but they accept grey/black whatever you wanna call it

Atleast that's what I got from reading it

I know mine arent mixes and I plan to try to breed for better leg color in the future.

Dusky shanks are acceptable on Marans that are Extended Black or Birchen based, i.e. Black,Silver Birchen & Brown-Red (Black copper) and their Blue variants.
All other Marans should have white shanks.
