we came home tonight to find one of my two week old chicks not walking. it walks like it can't control its legs, but want to eat . this are my own hatched out chickens that have never been exposed to any other birds yet. could this be something else or does anyone have
pics of chics with mareks?

I don't know, it seems young for mereks though. Maybe if you changed your title to something like 2-week old chick suddenly not walking well....? Could it have slipped or something and strained it's leg or pulled a ligament? I wouldn't think spraddle leg at 2-weeks, but the treatment for spraddle might help. I'm just throwing stuff out there though so hopefully this will give you a bump and someone else will chime in.

Sadly I had a few of my own chicks, that hatched closed flock, have this happen. My research always came back to Mareks. From what I've read, mareks is everywhere. I lost one hatch 80% to it... But have not had any mareks since... I'm confused really. I hope more marek educated BYCiners chime in..

It takes about six weeks for a bird to be symptomatic with mareks...................

ETA: Have you recently cleaned your brooder? Could the chick have gotten into spoiled feed? If so. try to find the directions for treatment for botulism using the search feature.

. my brooder is actually a clean cardboard box that i change the shavings whenever needed and then through out the box when the chicks are big enough to go out. food was good and so far the other chicks seem fine.
