When people post incubation issues, I often see marks on the eggs. Are they tracking the air cell or something? That’s what the circles look like... but I’ve also seen lines and other writings and was wondering what’s the deal with that... we’re incubating a second round and all I do is candle every 3 days or so... should I be keeping track of something that will help me tell my quitters?? Mine just have the date of lay and the breed.

Some sellers stamp eggs, some draw aircells, some write the breed or hens name, a lot that hand turn make two markings so they know how far to turn each time
That last part about the turning makes so much sense... we have an automatic egg turner, so I guess we’ll just keep on what we’ve been doing! Thanks for the reply.

Before I start incubating I take a pencil and mark the aircell on some eggs. Then I can monitor my air cells and adjust humidity if needed.
I do not candle until day 7. Then I throw quitters out and mark questionable eggs.
Do not turn your eggs 360 degrees when candling, just candle thru the air cell. Well thats how I do it.
