I cant find the right topic to place this, so I'm putting it here for MD state bird owners.....

Anyone else complying with the "permit to sell" requirements?? I hear they are really cracking down on this and there is a MDA person at the Westminster auction every week informing people on the enforcement that is taking place as of Sept 6th. I am going to the auction tonight to hear what they have to say, but have already decided to become NPIP certified.

Hello - Use to be a member years back before the site went away. Glad to see it is back. I am in Thurmont MD. I currently have 9 hens and 4 Roos. My main Roo is a Brown Leghorn and I have 3 mixed breeds. My hens are Rhode Island Red (1), Buff Orpington (1), Black Australop (3), Ameraucana (2), and White Leghorns (2). I just received a shipment today from Ideal Poultry. Growing my Hens population. I got 2 White Leghorns, 3 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 3 Ameraucana, and 2 Blank Giants. As for the Westminster Auction, I have a friend that goes every Thursday night and he said that the number of chickens being sold is way way down.

I just bought a few hens from a gal who was very upset about the new laws/rules for selling... Don't know much about it though. I'm in Bowie! 'Bout a half hour from D.C.- and I got chickens....I never would have dreamed this in a million years! The neighbors have chickens too- AND peacocks, I think. They make great noises!!
