OK, so it was not necessarily the size of the food so much as the freak nature of what happened. I like crumbles until they get to laying age though they can probably switch much younger. At 5 months age (OP's first post), I can't see any of them having trouble with either pellets or crumbles other than a freak accident. No reason for me to consider changing my feed.
