Have a decent sized Coronation Sussex roo, started crowing about 2 weeks ago. He lives with my RIR hen.
I've just been given my buddies RIR hen for a couple of days. Put her with the other two.

My buddies RIR has a bigger comb than mine does, not sure if this makes any diff, but the roo is doing this thing where hes walking sideways into her and pecking her comb. Shes had a little trickle of blood come from it, but is fine.

So, anybody know which of the subject line options is happening?

Aside from that, I'm hoping he'll mate with my buddies hen, as shes kept indoors and is still laying, where mine is outdoors in a coop, but shes shut down for a spell....really cold weather. Is this likely to happen?

One other thing.....my own lady is now starting to...well...crow, much more and louder than she ever has. Whats that about?

Too much for one day!!
Thanks all!

When my roo goes to mate he comes from the side and grabs the comb or the neck feathers of the hen too. So I guesse yours is getting ready to mate. It will take while for him to get the hang of it.

Hmm.

Still doing the sideways dance thingy he was doing yesterday. Wonder how long it will take him to get the hang of it.
