I'm in Michigan this week on business, but I found a small incubator on ebay that was advertised towards school-hatching (It only holds 3 eggs!) so I sent it to DB telling him that I would LOVE to have one for Christmas.

I talked to him on the phone tonight, expecting him to say "What will we do with more chickens?!" but instead he said "I didn't see where it had an electrical cord." WHAT?! He's CONSIDERING IT?!?!?!

I shudder to think what will happen if I join the ranks of the hatching-aholics.

And what WILL I do with more chicks?!

If you really want to give hatching eggs try, I'd invest in a better incubator. I've never used one of those 3 egg ones, but I haven't heard good things about them.

I assumed so, however DB will never go for anything big or high-dollar for right now. So if I use it and it doesn't work out so well, I'll just have to upgrade. I'm just trying to get my foot in the incubating door... sneakily!

I've been looking into the possibility of getting an incubator also. Seems to me that the Hova-bator 1588 is about the best price value ratio on the market these days. Prices are fair and reasonable. With all the bells and whistles i.e. electronic thermostat,turbo-fan,see-through top and auto-egg turner; the unit costs just under $200. If you don't like the hassle of incubation,it seems easier and quicker to sell the 1588 than it does those light bulb heated three egg jobbers. 1588's don't seem to last long on ebay and have high resale price. Just my observations.
All y'all take care!

Double R has that same incubator with automatic egg turners, and shipping included, for $175.00. So I don't know which is the better deal.
