Mazuri Waterfowl Starter Feed.

I have two week old Mallard ducklings that I picked up from Metzer Farms in TN, and they are on Mazuri Waterfowl Starter. How long do they need this feed before going to the Maintenance feed? Also, I need to know if I need to find some type of Grower feed between the two Mazuri types.

I recommend feeding the ducklings Mazuri until they’re about 8 weeks old and fully feathered. They need the extra protein for healthy growth and development.

It’s a myth that too much protein causes angel wing. In fact, the evidence shows the opposite. Angel wing is much more common in ducks that eat poor-quality diets, like bread and other low-protein, high-carb foods often given by people at parks. So, angel wing is linked to too little protein, not too much.

What about a Grower feed? Mazuri only has Starter and Maintenance.

If your ducks at eight weeks old and fully feather, they can be switched to Maintenance feed after.
