Hello everybody! My name is Taylor, and I am a twelve year old country girl living in the south, with one of my sisters, my Dad, and my Mom. And I'm a accidental chicken lover.

I currently have six seven week old chicks, (Three Partridge Plymouth Rocks, and three White Leghorns.) all of which I'm hoping are girls, but I am not eating (Or killing!) any of them no matter if they are all girls or all boys. <3 As you may know, both of these breeds produce XL eggs and I want to know how much I should charge for their eggs, and how many I can expect per day. I also want to give them a five gallon nipple waterer for water instead of the norm, should I take away their other waterer when I give them the nipple waterer?

Time to get on to the coop!

Here is the drawing of the coop (Black: Doors, Brown: Roosts, Yellow: Light, Red: Nesting Boxes, Grey: Storage Bins, Green: Horse Tack)

What do you think? Will It be sufficient for them?
Thank you!

Taylor,

Your coop looks plenty big for six chickens. I have between 8 and 15 at any given time and only have two egg boxes and they do fine. I don't have a nipple waterer so I can't help there though I would remove the other waterer if it were me. I hope you get all girls but don't be surprised if you don't. You did not say if you had straight run chicks. If you get a roo that will be great as your eggs will be fertile and maybe one of your hens will go broody so you can have even more chicks in the future.

As for egg price it depends where you live. You say in the country so lots of people probably have chickens already. In rural Missouri they go for about 1 to 1.50 per dozen...not much.

I know you do not want to eat your extra roos but they will fight and harass your hens relentlessly. You can try to give them away but most people do not need them (I'm sorry to say). My girls are in first and third grade and they help process our roos when ready, of course we hunt deer and turkey so it is something they have been used to from an early age. I hope you enjoy your chickens, we love ours.
