I am going to be starting a meal worm colony to supplement my flock's diet. I have a 15 gallon aquarium with a screened lid. I have 25lbs of Wheat Bran and plan to order my worms on Monday. How many worms do I need to start my colony? My flock is 5 hens who are in need of more protein and calcium.

You don't need many worms to get started, but the more you start with the faster your colony will grow. Here is a very long and informative thread on mealworms if you'd like to learn more about the process:

Mealworms is a great source of protein, but if your hens need calcium as well you should offer them some crushed oyster shell or egg shells in a separate container, so they can help themselves when they need it.
