Mean Chicken!

I have a Rhode Island Red, I got her last August, and she's so mean! She is the only chicken we've had that we are genuinely afraid of. I'm asking because she attacked my friend's face today, and bit my hand. I really don't want to have to send her away or kill her as she is a good egg layer. Is there anything I can do?

I wouldn't let any chicken close to my face. Is it really worth the eggs you get from her to keep one that mean? It wouldn't be for me. I would also keep my friends away from her as she is a liability. If she were to injure someone's eye and damage their vision, that could cost you a lot of money.

RIR is a feisty breed by nature. The last one I had harassed the other chickens and made itself an outcast. I was done with that breed early
