Hey everyone!
Well, my chickening has been going good thus far (with the exception of last night, but i am not retyping all that, you can see it in the predators and pests section) with the exception of my mean little chickies! I have assorted bantams, app 10-12 weeks old, and some standard chicks, app 5-7 weeks old. The younger chicks are the same size as the bantams at this point, maybe bigger. I have had them in 2 tractors, side by side, so they can see each other all day. I was doing this because I had heard theat before you integrate, you should let them see but not touch each other to minimize fighting and such. WEll, yesterday the FIL said to go ahead and mix them, as the youngers are plenty big enough (and there are more of them then the bantams) to fend for themselves. I decided to give it a try after everyone left, and my 2 cochin bantams (one def and one possibly roos) were being down right NASTY. They were chasing the youngers, biting very hard, pulling feathers, and the youngers just scattered and fled, and I felt so bad I took them back out.
What am I doing wrong?
6 bantams and (at the time) 7 standards
