mean drake

Why is my drake so mean? I bought 2 ducklings and 7 chicks at tractor supply and they're the same age. They're about 3 weeks old. Well the ducks have outgrown the chicks and I've noticed recently that my drake is bullying my little bantam but not the other chicks. Why is he doing that? Is he protecting the female duckling? He chases the little bantam and grabs hold of the chick with his beak and won't let go sometimes.

Do you plan to house then together? If not, I would separate the ducks from the chicks-Ducks grow much faster then chicks!

No. When they get big enough we are going to put the chicks in the pen with the adult chickens the ducks we just turn loose. They're currently in the "chick pen" right now
