Measuring temperature in brinsea octagon 20

Hey guys

I just got a new incubator and am a little bit confused on where to read the temperature. The original brinsea thermometer is attached near the top, and I used a second one to measure the temperature where the eggs are supposed to be. There is a 1,5 degree difference. I have tested the second temperature beforehand and know it is correct. Which one should I trust?

A new Brinsea incubator?!! Did you hit the lottery or something?!! As for the temperature, I've heard the Brinsea's are pretty accurate (for the price paid, they better be)........ but if I was you, I would always play it on the safe side and go with the lower temperature reading. Lower temp you can hatch eggs, although it may be a day or 2 late whereas with hot temp, you could risk cooking your chicks!

Do you have eggs in now? If so and your sensor is right by the eggs they do put off heat of there own which could be your difference. I have the same incubator,I have since upgraded to a bigger unit but I hatch many chicks in it with great hatches. I always trusted the one in the top and a second digital one as a back up but rarely were the exactly the same reading.
