Hi,
Nutrena , Southern States , and Agway all have Meat Bird formulas
with protein above 20%. Does Purina have one? If not, will you be
making one? Dual purpose heritage breeds do very well if raised on
a formula with protein at 22% or more.
Thanks so much!

Purina makes a Broiler Complete Show Chow that is 26% protein/ 4.50% fat. The last bag that I got did have animal proteins in it so that would be a plus over Nutrena and Agway.

Also I fed Purina Wildlife game bird feed for a long time and my heritage birds did real well on it. http://wildlife.purinamills.com/products/default.aspx
The starter is 30% protein,
Conditioner is 19% protein
Layer is 20% protein

Also I found that the amount of protein isn't as important as the type of protein, the heritage breeds love animal protein and do there best with animal proteins in there feed.
I can feed a 18 percent protein feed that contains animal proteins and my Reds do just as well as birds fed a 26% vegetarian feed.

Thank you! At what ages did you feed the 30% protein? When did you switch to an all-flock feed? Thanks!

I feed a 30% protein from hatch to around 4/6 weeks old then switch to a 20% game fowl.
Thank you Chris!!
Ok, so this is what you are feeding?:

Oh well this is interesting! ..from the Purina page :
"Our AntlerMax deer and elk feeds and Game Bird Chow diets are regionally formulated so they
meet the nutritional needs of the deer, elk and game birds in your area, regardless of where you live. "

After 4-6 weeks, do you feed the conditioner for the rest of their lives, both sexes?
Thanks,
Karen
