I came home from work today to find that the waterer had leaked all over the brooder that I have my meaties in. I just refilled it this morning and all was well. All of the chicks were covered in slimy poo and feed. I gave them a bath and blowed them dry. Their skin is extremely red. They were red before i bathed them and blow dried them, but they were pink this morning. Do i need to do anything else for them or is what i have already done enough to clear them up? Oh, and if you are curious, they loved the blowdrier. Thank you!

birds LOVE warm baths, they get sooo relaxed that you have to be sure they don't drown though!

just keep them out of drafts and you should be fine. Mine are dumping thier water all over their brooder as we speak.

You have to make sure the waterer is on a level surface. I have also had mine leak out as well.

I did find out if you don't have a level surface, and it's one of those waterers that has the closed top and one hole at the bottom to feed the water dish....position the hole so it's at the lowest spot. So if your waterer is canted lower on the left and higher on the right, make sure the hole is on the left side.

Yes, I learned that the hard way.....
