I've done 21 CX in 150 sq feet covered run (in Alabama where we get almost no snow) on about 4" of mulch from a tree service. Have to stir the mulch daily to turn in the poo. Raised them to up to 9 weeks. They had to walk from one end to the other to get food and water. Wouldn't raise any more then that, or too much poop - I didn't want to stir the litter 2x a day. It worked well, but was a lot of work.
