I bought this coop to make into a meat mobile chicken tractor. I live in the Midwest and am worried that my chickens wont have enough shelter for our weird, fluxuating weather. Is a tarp enough? We are planning on putting this thing on skids, but don't know how to attach the wood to the metal. UGH. We could build a box inside the coop, but I think it would be too heavy to move then. Do any of you have a set up like this that you can take some photos of? Do you move the coop? Leave it stationary? I could buy a solar fencer and put a fence around it and build a box inside for shelter. What is the best option. All photos welcome please

Welcome to BYC.

A tarp is enough if it comes to the ground and is well-secured -- though you also have to allow for sufficient ventilation -- especially if there is no shade.

Since it's only chicken wire and not hardware cloth you should definitely put it inside a secure electric fence. Chicken wire isn't strong enough to keep out dogs, coyotes, or raccoons.

You might want to ask for help in the meat bird forum since meaties, especially Cornish X, take special care to meet their unique needs. :)
