So I had a rabbit that was due yesterday. Nest box was in her cage since Sunday. She ate out all the straw and treated the box like a lounge. Yesterday when I came home I went in to check and she pulled no fur and all the kits (7) were on the wire and partially eaten.

I picked her up and noticed alot of blood by her back side. I am guessing from eating the kits. I cleaned her up and put her in the bucks cage to rebreed right away. She went crazy screeching, tearing to get out and so on. So I pulled her out and put her in her own cage. How long do I need to wait to rebreed and is the actions of putting her in the bucks cage normal after having kits and eating them?

This morning I went out to feed and water them and there was one more on the wire with it's legs eaten off. She is only 7 months old. Wondering if this is why she was acting crazy in the bucks cage.

At the same time I have a rabbit next to her that is due around Saturday so I thought. She started gathering hay in bunches. So I figured she may be getting ready to deliver a few days early. I put a nest box in her cage and she proceeded to eat all the hay and straw. I left the box in because I am not sure what to do but there is about 3 inches of wood chips in the box yet.

Any advice greatly appreciated. My first rabbit in my bunch did great last week (9 kits) and I have 5 more ready to have kits in the next 10 days. Just trying to figure out what to do with this one.

If this was her first litter I wouldn't worry too much. Wait 2 weeks & rebreed her. I'd suspect she'll do fine next time.

BTW-I don't think of myself as a rabbit expert but I have been raising meat rabbits for the last 25 years. I've had first litter does do what yours did only to do fine the next time I bred them.

You may want to go over to the sister site Backyard Herds, they have a rabbit section over there and quite a few people raise rabbits, they may be able to be more help to you than those of us in the chickens section.
Good luck with it.

Thanks simple life. I have been out there. The issue there is not as many people are there as here. I have gone days if not longer for answers.

And if any out there has rabbit meat for sale in the collierville, TN area let me know. I know some people down there looking for rabbit meat.
