I went to my meatie pen this morning and found one dead bird, dont know why it died but it was the oldest out of the flock. 6 weeks old. Then I found one of the 4 week olds with I think a broken leg. my question is, is it more humane to put it down now, or will it be ok to let it continue to grow. I am willing to take the loss of the 2nd bird if need be, I just dont want the other birds to be mean to it because of the broken leg. I am not 100% sure that it is broken, but after examining the bird, I think that might be the case. Please anyone with insight help me.. Thanx....

they do get sore and strained legs, but if you are certain it is broken then of course the humane thing is to put it down. Go ahead and butcher early for a nice little cornish game hen.

Thank you. I think I will do that, I just feel too guilty letting it go on like this. I just processed my first 9 birds yesterday and I still have my tables set up.

your good to go then!
