Meaties on small patch..

They don't call the Cornish X 30 day wonders for nothing. I now raise 25 of them at a time in 10x 10 corner of my barn on wood shavings due to very numerous and horrible predator situation as well as extreame heat for half a year, making it impossible to tractor them much less to free range them. I process them between 30-37 days of age for a game hen of 1-1/2 to 2 1/2 and some that are a few days older at 3 lb carcass. Due to this short life span there is minimum labor and odor. Each game hen provides for 2-3 meals for my wife and I. We BBQ, fry, or roast them.. Very tender and tastey !

Just thought I would weigh in- I have two kids running around, and tractor my CX in the yard... But my kids are 2 and 4, so no one is crawling or putting unsavory things in their mouth LOL. I just make sure that they both wear shoes when they go out, and that they don't play in the area directly behind the tractor. After I move the tractor I also "rake in" the poo (and I don't have any yellow or dead spots like in the earlier post, but I also have fewer in my tractor). You could also hose it down a little. But moving them or a LOT of shavings are going to be necessary.
